Life update.
I'm fully moved into my new house. It's on Melrose Ave., aka, bordering Linfield campus. I'm rooming with Dawn and Matt (this random friend of Odysseus); Matt's pretty cool. I didn't really know him before we started figuring this out. It has three bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen and laundry room, and the combo dining/living room space. Only things we're really missing at this point are chairs and dressers. It's pretty nice, all in all; $292 in rent per month, $3 for trash, $6 for internet starting in two months (next month is free), and whatever water and electricity cost. Food stamps reduce the cost of food, so... rolling pretty well. Matt has a truck and likes fishing, among other things.
I was offered a job by the school to work at O'Riley's again, full-time, more pay. I'm looking into getting a job with postal services, the local economic development group, and some of the busier/classier restaurants. I'll see what happens.
Flurry of D&D writing and preparing, with more to come for this semester... been doing a little console gaming as well.
Writing again with a novel idea Gene doesn't like and multiple short stories. 'tis FUN.
Visiting home from the 18th to the 1st of September. o: Yay flying!
Made a slew of new friends and acquaintances with the conferences job. Whoosh. Also have a bike and some snazzy clothing.
There's more, I think, but I can't remember it... ah well. Off to yard buying.
There is a cheese danish in my lap. I am eating with a fork; it's
definitely good for being grocery-store bought. It's a large one, in
those round plastic pans that usually house cakes.
Also
got the new Nestle cruncher-bars. Crunchy bits with wafers and
chocolate filling. Surprisingly worth buying again; American candy just
usually isn't that good, you know?
My feet are currently soaking in
a cooking pot filled with water and this foot soak from Avon. Dawn's
idea, kinda; guess she was trying to present-me or something. It's
trying to destroy my calluses, but currently failing. Mwahahaha.
I
got a pretty sweet glass today that looks like it's broken all across
the outside, but is fine along the inside. It's twisty, glass, and with
a sturdy base; grey/green tinted, but not translucent.
There is a
nyo about me, cutting off price tags from the clothing she got at
Goodwill today (where I got the glass - I also got a dark blue shirt
that apparently brings out my eyes) and tossing them into the laundry
basket.
I see an armored orc running on the fraction of an inch of the WoW screen behind my browser.
This nyo is now eating my hair whilst she lurks.
Picked up my iLugger today. It can iLug my iMac so that my iMac doesn't get iScratches or iStolen.
iTerrific, ne?
Too bad I couldn't get an iLugger 2. They were just $130~ more(!).
I discovered Alizee (accent on the first e, I'm lazy) and Moi...Lolita. Zomg catchy. It's infected my brain.
Kinda funny how many glares Dawn got after shaving her head. People are silly.
So... no responses on my novel. Guess no one's read it. Trying to decide whether or not to edit it.
Au revoir.
So I'm still in McMinnville, Oregon. Working for Linfield. Lame, I
know, but it actually pays alright with all the free food and housing
I'm getting. After that, finding a job in MacTown. More on that some
time in the future.
One of my roommates is black, the other's Asian. They seem cool enough. I think I might be eating too much junk food.
My job is basically cleaning, moving things, and cooking/serving food. Exciting, I know.
I'm heading back to the AZ in August, about midly in that month,
whereupon I will stay there for about two weeks. Fun times, I be
thinking.
First novel is officially rough-written, but there's a lot of editing
that needs to be done before it looks like anything that's publishable.
I'm debating between writing a romance novel and a non-fiction novel. I
think I'll do the former first. Anyone here read one before? I could
use some pro tips.
Other than that, been playing games, hanging out, chilling. Still with
Dawn. Oh, and if you have any movie suggestions, give 'em.
Co-op storymodes. So few, so far in between. One of the better parts of playing many games is the fact you get to play it with other people, but a majority of games have awesome story modes - that are only one player. Wtf is up with that? Hell, I know you developers are lazy, but come on.. that's one of the best experiences. Don't give me some shitty mode for co-op, or only duels or multiplayer vs. I want some damn co-op story moding.
Jeebus. Lamz0rz gamez0rz. Problem is, most games are all priced equally, regardless of their content, so there's less of an incentive to make better games. Ah well. At least there's higher sales numbers.
So here's what's up.
My schedule is busy. I work at O'Riley's, the English Office, and Sodexho. That's Sunday - Thursday. I do stuff for the Linfield Link (acting, filming, hosting), on rare occasion (rarer than I want) LRPC actions, and then D&D four times a week or so. I have Japanese (which I have to practice and study a lot for), Microeconomics (fun, yay math), and American Literature, Survey of Post-War stuff (cool discussions). I have a radio show on Saturday, I do senate for Fusion on Monday now, and I have to fit in novel writing, cooking, and time with people and such. Oh, also, dance rehearsals twice a week.
I think that's about it. It's pretty cool and fun.
Money will be fine. Relationship is good, despite my occasional slumps of insecurity (goddamn perfect girlfriend! rather, lol, /jk). D&Ding so much is really bringing out more creativity, as was reading Kris' novel. It's good stuff. I hope mine comes out nicely. Also, I have a good chunk of that done, so feel free to request some for reading.
Hmm... exciting things... uhh... I guess that's it. Yay!
And no, I'm not racist.
So here's what's up. Tomorrow, I'm probably doing a little Dillin work and then judging for a forensics tournament. Doing the latter again on Saturday. Tonight, some DotA. I've been studying Japanese and will continue doing so. I expect to fully clear the first book by the end of the tournament and begin on the second book before the semester starts. Analyzing characters in my novel and working on metaphorical elements to include, if any. Need to call family sometime... going to move back into my apartment tonight or tomorrow night.
Once I reach the bank today, I'll deposit $902.64. That's almost $300 more than I need for February's tuition payment; however, I need to buy books. The $19.95 charge appeared again, so I have to bring that up with my Grandma... again. That's enough times, so I'm going to cancel my bank account once my tution is fully paid for. I probably will be low by an amount come the fourth and final tuition payment, but I'll just use short-term loaning to manage that off. I was set to do 10 hours / week at O'Riley's, but that may be cut down; in any event, I'm going to pick up a 4-8 shift at Dillin to make extra money while I look for local jobs.
I'm going to look for a MacTown job for the next year and half, if possible, which is more enticing than work as a seasonal student. I'm also going to look for housing for that duration. I might return home for a time during the summer, but that'll be limited, assuming all things constant. Also, I'm going to change my permanent address temporarily to 1220 Melrose, get my Driver's License from OR, then change it to my post box. I'll probably wait a little bit for the last part so they don't figure it out too quickly. It'd just be easier if OR had better laws.
I set up a Vox account, so if anyone's interested, I can give you the info. I'm double-posting this though, and I'll keep doing that until I decide otherwise.
Aside from Japanese, I'm also taking American Literature and MicroEconomics this semester. That's one class short of what I usually take; my reasoning is that I'll have more time to pursue other things, the most important being writing. I want to join Dance Ensemble, but I'll have to examine the time committment and my track record on both writing and classes (particularly Japanese, since I'm largely relearning my three semesters of it in two-three weeks) to see if it's feasible. If I don't join it, then.. well, I have plans, and I've lost my inhibitions regarding them.
As far as D&D goes, I'm going to DM the two elite games. The Eberron game will have to persuade me to care if they want that to continue. It's a hard decision, but until I know for sure how much time I actually have, that's how it's going to be. Fortunately, I have Fridays off completely (class-wise).
That sets things out for now. There are more thoughts bouncing around, but I'll give them time to sort themselves out.
I've been working on ze psionics campaign and I hit an impass. What to get together a party for to do? I am curious about zis... ah, I think I have ze answer.
So I haven't been studying Japanese. This worries me. A lot. Best get started. :/ Nor working on my novel other than in my head. This is also bad. SHIT GUYZ
I'm thinking of not having D&D next week, just to do shiz I need to do and get a break. Le sigh. But, I shall also use some time to work on ze game... whooz.
I had other things to say, but someone interrupted me. Ah well. Bloop.
